We've almost got a time line!!!

We spoke with J & T (our Intended Fathers) and found out that the egg donor has finally gone for her testing!!!!  We are so excited!  That means if all her tests come back good we will have a transfer in late January or early February!!  The only downside is that Ash will start her meds in December which could make for a moody Christmas.  I hope hope hope hope hope the sun shines down from the heavens above and the transfer takes on the first try.

In a nutshell.......... My wife is going to be a gestational surrogate for an amazing same sex couple from London. We figured that since we needed help from our donor to concieve Emma we needed to give back to the universe as a whole and help give this gift to another family who was unable to have a child. Ash will transfer 2 embryo's, one of each intended father and hopefully both will take.

okay.. that is AWESOME!!! How completely wonderful! Will you have to travel there? What about when it is time... will there be issues with location?

It's a fairly uncomplicated process other than all the shots and meds Ash will have to take for the IVF. The fertility clinic they are using is in CT, we went there in Sept for our medical screening and that's where the transfer will happen. When Ash gives birth it will be here in Utah and the guys will come here a few weeks before the babies are due and stay until they are old enough to travel and have all the passport stuff in order (usually about 2 weeks). One of the IF's has family in a neighboring state so I'm thinking they will head there before they take the babies back to London. We're really excited to do this for them. They really are the sweetest men. They are going to be amazing daddies.

Yay! I know you're excited about that. I FINALLY got my timeline and it's just like a weight lifted. I recieved my meds today and OMG it's a LOT! I got nauseous just looking at all those pills.

That's awesome Jennifer, I've heard from many other surrogates that the PIO shots aren't as bad as they look and your fertility dr can actually prescribe you a topical numbing gel to use before you do them. Supposedly the lupron in the tummy is a breeze. Good luck with your journey! When is your transfer?

We are supposed to transfer right before Christmas around the 20th so hopefully the timeline doesn't get pushed back any b/c I am not missing Christmas at home.

What fertility center do you use? Are you indy or with an agency? I'll send sticky thoughts your way when you go :D You can let us know all the details. I've heard a lot of ladies using some pretty funny good luck charms, only wear green or yellow, mcdonalds fries right after the tranfer, and lots of fresh pineapple including the core (that one has some medical backing to it) and as much bed rest as possible even if the dr only says 1 day.

I am using an agancy in L.A. called Growing Generations but I go to my checkups here in Ga at Emory Reproductive Center and they check my lining and levels and everything. I have heard of the other surrogates wearing green or painting their nails green or something like that. Hadn't heard of the pineapple but I don't like pineapple so that wouldn't help me anyways.
