1 week down

We're one week down on our IVF journey.  Poor Ash is bruised on her belly from the shots, I do them so gently and she still bruises.  I feel horrible!  I can't imagine what her butt is going to look like when we start the progesterone shots :(  We go to the dr on Tuesday to see if she is suppressed and able to decrease her Lupron and start taking loads of estrogen to get her body ready to receive the embryos.  God I hope this all goes smooth!

Does anyone else suffer from insomnia and if so what do you do for it?  I have stopped taking sleeping pills (too addictive) and I just don't sleep much anymore and it's driving me and Ash crazy.  She goes to bed pretty early because she works so damn early but i'm used to being up until 2ish from when she was working nights.  So now i'm up until 2-3 and am back awake at 7ish that's if i can fall asleep.  It's starting to wear on me and my patience.

Have you tried melatonin for the insomnia?

I hope your IVF cycle is successful!

I've tried melatonin with little success but I'm still taking it because I was told it takes a while to build up in my system and start working.

Hi there here for ICLW so sorry you are suffering from insomnia, I don't know any good cures unfortunately. Good luck on your journey! Try ice for the bruising :) I'm sure you probably already do!

Hi, I don't know how old you are, but every woman I know who is early 40s and up has insomnia. I think it is from changes due to getting nearer to menopause. I am 51, and stilled haven't "paused", but I must be really close.
I reached a point where I was getting to sleep but waking up every night after 3-4 hours of sleeping, then I would be awake for a couple of hours and then maybe get 1-2 more hours of sleep. I was exhausted.
I started swimming, and now I am up to swimming 1 mile 3 times a week. I sleep so much better. I still occasionally wake up at night, but not that often. I have found I need to exercise strenuously for 45 minutes to exhaust myself enough to sleep. Sometimes I also use a rowing machine or exercise bicycle. I also like to walk, but it doesn't make me sleep. I hope this helps.

Benadryl and Tylenol PM - non addictive, even my doctor recommended it. Start out with a small amount, though. You need your rest, girl!

Its so hard to have insomnia :(

I used to take tylenol PM- that helps somewhat

A glass of warm milk with honey is a cultural home remedy that is hit or miss for me.

Andt he biggest thing is avoiding television and internet for an hour before bed- picking up a book and reading gets you ina better state of mind- the screen time stimulates me at least.

I hate insomnia. Hope it gets better soon :(
